Kennedy was baptized today Saturday, February 7
th 2009! It was such a beautiful and spiritual day. A day that I will never forget.
Kennedy picked out this dress by herself. We shopped for it together on the
Internet and found it in just a few minutes. She knew it was "the one" when she first saw it....exactly what she was dreaming of for her baptism.
I was so grateful to have most of my family there for such a special occasion.
Alycin and her sweetheart Mark came, Grandma Sandra came from Utah and brought 2 of my nieces Cassie and Olivia, that sang so beautifully for the baptism. Grandma and Grandpa Brooks drove in from
Las Vegas. There were many friends that came to support Kennedy too. We are so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives.
The Confirmation was the most spiritual and amazing part. Tom called several friends ahead of time to invite them to help in the confirmation of the Holy Ghost. Bishop Elliott, Mitch Thomas, Larry
Radford, Rocky Nelson, Matt
Roser and Bryce Peterson all attended. Tom and Dad were the only ones from the family that stood up. At that time, it made me miss Grandpa Ralph. I wish that he could have been there to lay his hands upon her head with the others.....I know that he was looking down from heaven smiling at Kennedy though, happy with her decision to be baptized.
The spirit was so strong.....Cassie my niece sang a beautiful solo and then Tom shared his feelings and bore his testimony. We asked all that attended to share something special with Kennedy on a note card. Something to have as a remembrance for her to reflect on later. Tom then called on both Grandma's to stand up and bear their testimonies on the spot. I looked at Sandra's face and she gave Tom a look that I shall never forget! My Mom didn't seem to mind bearing her testimony much except that later I found out that she had had an accident on the way to the baptism that made her a tad late. I was proud of her for bouncing right back and getting up there. She is such a great example to us all!
This is my little family....I guess not so little any more.
Ralphie is 10, Kennedy 8, Luke 4, and Chloe' will be one next month.
Words can't describe the sweet feelings that I had in my heart as I watched Tom baptize and confirm Kennedy. It made me reflect on my own baptismal day some 31 years ago and how I wish that my own Father could have baptized me. What a great blessing it is to have a Dad that holds the priesthood.
Kennedy with her Mom right after she was confirmed.
Cousins.....Cassie, Kennedy and Olivia all sang "If The Savior Stood Beside Me" in the chapel for all of the stake baptisms in front of more than 100. It was just beautiful!
Ralphie gave a talk on baptism. As he stood up his little voice quivered and I thought Oh...know...he is going to cry! But do you know that he took a deep breath and nailed it! I was so proud of him. That is something that I could have never done at his age. I just didn't have the confidence or the courage, good job
Ralphie!
I love this picture.....do you know why? Because she has FRESH, CLEAN and PURE written all over her face! For only at this very moment was my little girl PURE and PERFECT in every way! This is just after Kennedy came up out of the waters of baptism.....dripping wet, smiling and just as FRESH as ever! I love you Sis!
Back in the day.....they didn't have white jumpers to wear so I wore a dress that my Mom made for me. It would be a vintage item now for sure! Since I love vintage things.....I thought that it would be fun to have my Mom make Kennedy a baptismal dress of her own. One to pass down to her own daughter some day. I told my Mom to just go for it and make it the way she wanted. I was pleased with the results...she even made bloomers to go under it just TO DIE FOR!
